Victim of shooting at Lawrence McDonald’s expected to recover; investigation still underway

The victim of a shooting that occurred Saturday evening at a Lawrence McDonald’s is expected to make a full recovery, according to Lawrence police.

In a news release shortly after the incident occurred at 6:25 p.m. Oct. 26, police said that the victim, a 50-year-old man, had “serious” injuries. He was taken to an area hospital, police said.

Sgt. Amy Rhoads, public affairs officer for the Lawrence Police Department, said Monday that the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police have not provided more information about the nature of the shooting, though scanner traffic indicated that it was connected with a robbery or attempted robbery.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, Rhoads said. Police ask anyone with information to contact the department at 785-832-7509 or Crime Stoppers of Lawrence and Douglas County at 785-843-TIPS.
