The Lawrence Police Department is looking for a suspect in connection with two armed robberies reported late Friday at southern Lawrence apartment complexes.

Sgt. Amy Rhoads, public affairs officer, wrote in an email that police responded at about 11 p.m. Friday to a reported armed robbery in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2500 block of West 31st Street. The reporting party told police he was walking in the parking lot when a man wearing dark-colored clothing and with his face concealed robbed him at gunpoint. The suspect reportedly took personal items from the victim before leaving the area in a black passenger vehicle.

About 10 minutes after the initial report, officers responded to a report of a similar robbery across the street from an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Ousdahl Road, Rhoads wrote.

In that incident, the victim was waiting at a bus stop when a man matching the description of the suspect in the earlier report brandished a firearm and stole personal items and an undisclosed amount of money from the victim. The suspect reportedly left the scene in a black sedan.

Rhoads wrote that the two robberies were still under investigation and no suspect had been arrested as of noon Saturday. Anyone with information regarding the incidents is asked to call LPD at 785-830-7509, or Crime Stoppers of Lawrence and Douglas County at 785-843-TIPS. Tips to Crime Stoppers can be anonymous.
