An armed man has surrendered to Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies after engaging in more than a 12-hour standoff in a field south of Eudora.

Sgt. Kristen Channel, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said the man surrendered to deputies unharmed shortly after 7 p.m.

Deputies were first dispatched at about 7 a.m. to an area near the intersection of North 900 and East 2400 roads when it was reported there was a man with a gun in a field, who was feared could be a danger to himself. Deputies have been in communication with the man, who has remained in the field throughout the day, Channel reports. Officers remained on scene as of 7 p.m.
