A trial date has now been set for a Baldwin City woman charged with murder in the death of a Lawrence man last year at Perry Lake.

Thursday in Jefferson County District Court, Ashlyn N. Hemmerling entered a plea of not guilty to the charges and a weeklong trial was scheduled to begin June 10, according to County Attorney Joshua Ney.

Taylor D. Sawyer, 22, was fatally shot in a remote area of Perry Lake on March 14, 2018.

In the following days, Hemmering and co-defendant Jonathan D. Blevins, of Topeka, were both arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder.

A Jefferson County jury convicted Blevins earlier this month. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 18.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct the trial date for Hemmerling.
