Strong winds blow semitrailer over on I-70 near Lawrence, bringing westbound traffic to a halt

All lanes of westbound traffic on Interstate 70 were brought to a halt just east of Lawrence on Monday morning because of an overturned semitrailer, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.
KHP Lt. Mark Christesen said the truck, which was not carrying cargo, rolled over because of strong winds around 8:15 a.m. near the 205 mile marker. He said no other vehicles were involved in the wreck and the driver, Lawrence resident Carl Hall, suffered minor injuries. Hall, 64, was wearing his seat belt and was treated at the scene of the wreck, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log.
The rolled truck blocked both lanes of westbound traffic until about 9 a.m. when one-lane traffic resumed through the inside shoulder, Christesen said. Both lanes reopened around 11:40 a.m., according to a tweet from the Kansas Turnpike Authority.
