The Lawrence Police Department is planning extra DUI enforcement throughout the city on Saturday — which is April 20, celebrated among marijuana smokers as the 4/20 holiday.

The DUI saturation patrol will involve placing extra officers on the road specifically to look for motorists showing signs of impaired driving or other traffic violations, police said in a news release. Officers will perform field sobriety tests on drivers who show signs of alcohol or drug consumption.

“Driving drunk or high will get you a DUI,” police said in the news release. “The Lawrence Police Department urges you to designate a sober driver and reminds you to buckle up, every trip, every time.”

Police said the special enforcement is funded with a Kansas Department of Transportation grant.
