Two people have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery after reportedly stealing someone’s car, jumping in and crashing it a couple of blocks away.

Just before midnight Saturday night, Lawrence police were dispatched to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane, Officer Shawn Gross said in an email to media Monday morning.

When they arrived, police determined that someone had been battered and had a vehicle stolen, he said. He said the vehicle fled the scene, then crashed near the intersection of Ousdahl Road and West 25th Court.

The people in the vehicle fled from the crash but were later caught by police, Gross said. He said one suspect was arrested on aggravated robbery charges and the other was taken to a hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries from the crash.

On Monday morning, two people were in jail in connection with the incident, according to jail records: Lawrence residents Kevin L. Davis, 27, and Jade A. Drum, 28. Neither had been formally charged Monday morning, according to a search of Douglas County District Court records.
