A man allegedly seen touching himself while driving around the University of Kansas campus this summer — multiple times in a two-day span — has been arrested.

Campus wasn’t the only place he struck those days, either, court documents allege.

David D. Schumock, 27, of Lawrence, is charged with three counts of misdemeanor lewd and lascivious behavior in connection with the Aug. 13 and Aug. 14 incidents on campus, according to a complaint filed in Douglas County District Court.

Also on Aug. 13, he exposed himself to a 9-year-old child, resulting in a felony count of lewd and lascivious behavior, another complaint against him alleges. Lawrence police logs indicate that incident occurred about 8:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of West 31st Street, where several businesses are located.

Schumock was arrested on all the charges Tuesday and was released on bond, according to jail records. He’s scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20.

The KU incidents all also occurred in broad daylight.

One woman told KU police that just before 11 a.m. Aug. 13 she was walking on Memorial Drive when a man in a white truck stopped to ask her a question and she saw that he was masturbating.

The next day, two female KU students said a man exposed himself to them while he was driving about 10:20 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Campus Road. About 4:20 p.m. Aug. 14, another KU student reported seeing a man masturbating in his truck in the parking lot behind JRP Hall, 1122 West Campus Road.

Campus police said previously that the suspect had no affiliation with KU. Schumock is not listed in the KU directory.

At the time his address was in the area of 23rd Street and Naismith Drive, according to court records. Jail records list a West Lawrence address currently.

The Journal-World requested Schumock’s mugshot from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office but did not immediately receive a response regarding its release.
