Lawrence police arrested two men overnight after they allegedly robbed one person then barged into a nearby home and tried to rob others.
The crimes were reported about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday in a mobile home park at 100 Arkansas St.
Police were dispatched to the possible sounds of gunshots, and while on the way learned that a robbery had occurred, Lawrence Police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said in an email. She said officers caught and arrested two suspects fleeing from the scene.
Police later learned that the suspects reportedly had robbed one victim outside of a residence, inflicting minor injuries, Rhoads said.
Then they reportedly forced their way into a nearby residence and attempted another robbery but were chased off by the residents, Rhoads said.

Ultimately, police did not find any guns or evidence of guns being fired during the incident, Rhoads said.
The two men arrested in connection with the incident were Jesse L.J. Liggett, 33, of Eudora, and Loren D. Partrich, 34, of Lawrence, according to jail records. The jail log indicates they were arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and robbery, and were being held without bond.
Charges had not been filed in Douglas County District Court as of Wednesday morning.
The Journal-World requested mug shots from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office but did not immediately receive a response as to whether they would be released.
