A retired U.S. general who served as NATO’s supreme allied commander in Europe will be at KU next month to speak about world security issues.
Retired U.S. Gen. Philip Breedlove will provide the keynote address at the 2024 KU Security Conference at 7 p.m. April 10 at the Dole Institute of Politics, 2350 Petefish Drive on KU’s West Campus.
Breedlove served as the top European NATO commander from 2013 to 2016, where he often warned of a Russian military buildup and the need for the U.S. military to more heavily invest in the defense of Europe.
Russia and its invasion of Ukraine will be a central topic of the KU Security Conference, which will continue through April 11 at the Jayhawk Welcome Center.
Breedlove’s speech on April 10 is open to the public. The KU Security Conference is being hosted by KU’s Center for Russian, East Europe and Eurasian Studies and the Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence.
