Watson Library, 1425 Jayhawk Blvd., on the University of Kansas campus.

KU’s main library will host a new exhibit that highlights art and projects spurred by the university’s Common Book, “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teaching of Plants.”

Watson Library’s new gallery will host the exhibit, titled “Sitting in a Circle.” The library will host an opening reception and panel discussion at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The new exhibit will showcase the creative work and reflections generated by students and faculty as they have read and participated in events related to this year’s Common Book. The exhibit also will specifically highlight KU’s Braiding Sweetgrass Walking Tour and the university’s Native Medicinal Plant Garden.

A panel discussion, beginning at 4 p.m., will feature several members of the KU faculty who will discuss their interactions with “Braiding Sweetgrass.”

The “Sitting in a Circle” exhibit will be on display in Watson’s Haricombe Gallery through Aug. 31.
