Lawrence Public Library guide highlights free meals available every day in the community

Diners enjoy the LINK Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, at tables with socially distanced seating in the basement of First Christian Church in downtown Lawrence. LINK organizers said it was the first public event in the basement since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Every day of the week, nonprofits, churches and community groups serve free meals to people and families in need, and now a local organization is working to ensure community members know what is being offered.

The Lawrence Public Library along with its Information Services department put together a comprehensive list of the meals available in an effort to highlight that a system is in place for residents to have at least one free meal every day.
