Theatre Lawrence will wrap up its season in June with a musical production of “The Addams Family.”

The show, based on the quirky, ghoulish clan created by cartoonist Charles Addams, is set to open on Friday, June 5, and to have multiple performances at 4660 Bauer Farm Drive through June 21. For information about tickets, call 785-843-SHOW (7469) or go online at theatrelawrence.com.

The award-winning musical opened on Broadway in 2010, featuring Nathan Lane as Gomez Addams and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia Addams. The stage production, unlike the original TV show, centers on an adult Wednesday Addams who is preparing to marry a “normal” man. Audience members can expect to see the whole Addams family crew, though, including Grandma, Pugsley, Lurch, Uncle Fester and more.

Music and lyrics are by Andrew Lippa, and there’s an accompanying book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.

Theatre Lawrence’s next season will kick off in September with a jazzy reimagining of a Gilbert and Sullivan classic: “Pirates! The Penzance Musical.”

On Tuesday, Theatre Lawrence announced that it’s annual holiday show will be a stage adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz,” to run Dec. 4-20.
