Hello, summer: Lawrence’s outdoor public pool opens for season

As the temperature approached 90 degrees with 60% humidity, eager swimmers finally got to take a dip in the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, which opened for the season Monday after a week’s delay.
The public swimming pool was scheduled to open on Memorial Day, but renovation work necessitated a delay, the city said.

The regular hours for the pool, 727 Kentucky St., will be 1 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
The pool will be open for lap swimming from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, starting on June 15.
Monthly passes for the pool can be purchased for $47 per person per month. A season pass, valid through Sept. 7, can be purchased for $94.
Daily admission charges are $7 for ages 3-17 and 60-plus and $8 for ages 18-59. Ten-day punch cards can also be purchased for $55 for youths and seniors and for $65 for adults.
