Three organizations from Lawrence have each been selected to receive money to learn how to build stronger cultures of leadership and change.
The Kansas Leadership Center, or KLC, has chosen three Lawrence organizations – LMH Health, the City of Lawrence and the Self Advocate Coalition of Kansas, or SACK – to earn 2026 Leadership Transformation Grants. The grants provide leadership training and resources to help individuals and organizations tackle tough challenges and create positive change in their communities, according to a press release from the KLC.
“These programs offer a framework by which organizations can share a common language and skills to approach their challenges and empower employees to mobilize others to create progress in their organization and communities,” Camille Scott, KLC partner manager, said in the release.
The grants provide training and resources to a core team of three to six individuals from each organization to participate in the KLC’s leadership programs. These individuals will learn the “KLC Framework,” which emphasizes that leadership is an activity anyone can practice — not just those in formal positions. It will also give organizations access to materials such as KLC’s book When Everyone Leads and ongoing support from KLC staff.
This year, the KLC awarded 76 organizations these grants. The organization has previously awarded 776 grants in the last 11 years and has trained more than 15,000 people, partnering with 416 Kansas organizations and communities.
