Bethany Barclay, of Lawrence, won Kansas’ Miss Amazing pageant on Saturday.

The pageant is open to any young woman with a physical or developmental challenge. Barclay, 26, has Down syndrome.

The pageant included talking about goals; a gown competition; a talent competition, for which Barclay did an interpretive dance; and an interview.

Part of Barclay’s duties for the next year will be public appearances and advocating for the disabled to maximize their potential. She will compete in the national Miss Amazing pageant in July in Chicago.
