Longtime media sales executive Kevin Hall has joined the Journal-World as its new director of advertising and marketing, the company has announced.

Hall, a Lawrence resident, was a media sales executive with Charter Communications prior to accepting the management position at the Journal-World. In that role, Hall sold video and digital advertising products to Lawrence and regional businesses on behalf of cable television systems in Lawrence and Kansas City. Prior to that position, Hall served as an advertising executive with Lawrence’s Allen Press.

“I was excited to find someone with strong Lawrence connections to fill this important role at the Journal-World,” Chad Lawhorn, Journal-World editor and publisher, said. “Kevin is heavily invested in the community. He and his wife are raising their family here, they’ve chosen to make Lawrence their home, and with more than a decade’s worth of experience, he understands how to help businesses increase their success in the community.”

In the role of director of advertising and marketing, Hall oversees all advertising operations for the Journal-World’s six-day per week print publication, LJWorld.com, KUsports.com, the Journal-World’s job fair business, among other ventures.

“I’m really excited to be part of the Journal-World,” Hall said. “I’ve always been focused on helping area firms improve their business through advertising and marketing, and now to be leading a team of advertising executives with that same goal is fantastic.”

Hall replaces Allison Tait, who left to become the director of marketing for the revamped David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and the University of Kansas Conference Center.
