A fundraiser for Lawrence Blue Santa is taking the form of a murder mystery, and the public is invited to take part — and also to look the part, if they wish.

The event, called “I Love the 80s to Death,” will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Maceli’s, 1031 New Hampshire St. It will include a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner and a show in which the audience is tasked with solving a murder mystery.

Audience members are invited to attend in ’80s style, according to a press release for the event: “Peg your jeans, slouch your socks, flash some neon, put on way too much eyeliner and get that hair up! You are going to solve this crime in style.”

KMBC news anchor Kris Ketz will be on hand to help solve the fictional crime.

Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.com

Proceeds will benefit Lawrence Blue Santa, a nonprofit charity serving residents of Lawrence and Douglas County. The mission of the organization is to provide year-round support to individuals and families through an officer-based referral program that connects those in need with essential resources, assistance and community support.
