A storm has dropped between 1.5 inches and 2.25 inches of rain in Lawrence as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
Rain is expected to continue through the early evening hours Tuesday, and Douglas County will remain under a flood watch until Wednesday morning, said meteorologist Adam Jones in Topeka. He said the rain should fully subside by nightfall.
The forecast calls for Wednesday to be dry and cool, with temperatures in the low 70s that will drop into the upper 50s overnight. Some rain is forecast on Thursday and Friday, but it should total less than an inch, Jones said.
“Nowhere near as significant as today,” Jones said.
Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70s or lower 80s in the latter part of the week.
