As bitter temperatures and winter storm conditions are expected, Lawrence/Douglas County Cold Weather Response is seeking volunteers for the Community Warming Center.

Volunteers will play a crucial role in providing a safe and welcoming environment for individuals seeking shelter during extreme cold weather conditions.

This is an overnight shelter only, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., at University Community of Christ, 1900 University Drive.

Responsibilities include; greeting guests, providing comfort and support, monitoring the space to maintain a clean and welcoming environment, distributing blankets, food and other essential items as needed, and staying alert to assist with any emergencies or needs that arise.
