More than 4,300 cases of cookies, or around 52,000 individual packages, arrived Tuesday morning at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, where volunteers sorted orders for scout troops, who picked them up in the afternoon to fill their orders and to sell around town.

This year’s varieties, according to chief brand and marketing officer Gina Garvin, include Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel DeLites, Trefoil (shortbread), Peanut Butter Sandwich, Lemonades, Adventurefuls (brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel flavored crème with a hint of sea salt) and Toast-Yays (French toast flavor with icing).
The cookies are $6 per box. Booth sales will kick off this weekend at various sites all around town, including at various grocery stores and large retailers.
Garvin says to look for booths from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the next four weekends, starting Friday. Cookie-selling locations will include Checkers Foods, Cottin’s Hardware, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillons grocery stores, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Hy-Vee, Michaels, and Westlake hardware stores.
Cookies will also be sold at both Walmarts beginning the weekend of Feb. 16, and some special pop-up sales will occur at the Lawrence Home Show on Feb. 17 and 18 and at Mr. Brew’s Taphouse on Feb. 18.
