Lawrence officially has its newest business hall of famers.
Four longtime community leaders were inducted into the Lawrence Business Hall of Fame during a Thursday evening event on the University of Kansas campus. This year’s inductees are: Kevin O’Malley, president of Lawrence-based O’Malley Beverage, one of the larger beer and liquor wholesalers in the region; Father Mick Mulvany, who was the longtime leader of Lawrence’s Corpus Christi Catholic Church and now serves the church in Eudora; KU Chancellor Doug Girod, who has been overseeing some of the largest amounts of development in Lawrence with hundreds of millions of dollars in work at the KU Gateway and KU Crossing projects; and Bonnie Lowe, a former Lawrence mayor, banker and current president and CEO of the Lawrence chamber of commerce.
The Lawrence chapter of the nonprofit organization Junior Achievement sponsors the business hall of fame, and hosted Thursday evening’s induction ceremony, which also serves as a major fundraiser for the organization’s mission to provide business and consumer education in Lawrence elementary and middle schools.
