Rain is expected to begin overnight Christmas, making post-holiday travel wet and gloomy, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
Christmas Day is expected to be cloudy with fog in the morning and a light drizzle beginning overnight, said meteorologist Matt Wolters on Tuesday.
“We’ll see this cloudy, dreary weather last for a few days. Santa will be happy to have Rudolph,” Wolters said.
The rain will increase on Thursday morning and is expected to last through Saturday. Wolters said that the rain might total as much as a quarter of an inch.
“Fortunately, temperatures look to remain above freezing,” Wolters said.
The high on Christmas Day is expected to be about 45 degrees and will increase into the mid-50s through the rest of the week, Wolters said.
