Skaters enjoy a new addition to Centennial Skate Park on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

A new skate park expansion at Centennial Park officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

The $250,000 expansion at the park, at 600 Rockledge Road, has been under construction since last fall. It’s a plaza that’s designed to be used for “street-style” skateboarding, where skaters do tricks using obstacles that wouldn’t exclusively be found in a skate park, like benches, stairs, handrails and any other architecture a skater might come across on a city street.
