The John Taylor Park Incubator Garden, 200 N. Seventh St., is one of 11 Common Ground urban garden sites throughout Lawrence.

Douglas County’s community gardening and urban agriculture program, Common Ground, is seeking volunteers for the 2023 season.

The county announced Tuesday that Common Ground is in need of individual or group volunteers to help maintain the gardens, plant and harvest produce and transport produce to local food banks at its 11 garden sites across Lawrence.

The county noted that three sites in particular are the most in need of volunteer help this season: Little Prairie Donation Garden and Orchard at Peterson Park, N. Iowa St. and Peterson Road; the Lawrence Community Orchard at 830 Garfield St.; and the Growing Together Community Garden at W. Third and Alabama streets.
