The Douglas County Commission won’t be meeting this week.

Douglas County Administrator Sarah Plinsky told the Journal-World after last week’s meeting that the commission would be taking the week off and would reconvene during the second week of October.

In part, Plinsky said that’s because there wouldn’t be enough business to take care of to fill a meeting agenda, but it’s also because commissioners have had a busy past few weeks attending other meetings, such as a town hall last Thursday night to gather community input on a proposed project to extend Wakarusa Drive.

The commission is next set to meet Wednesday, Oct. 12. The agenda for that meeting won’t be published until Friday at the earliest, but Plinsky told commissioners last week that it would include an update on progress at the Treatment and Recovery Center of Douglas County. The topic was on the agenda for last week’s meeting but ended up being pushed back two weeks because the center’s executive director and medical director, Dr. George Thompson, was out of town and unable to attend the meeting.
