Lawrence kicked off the holiday season on Friday with the annual tradition of turning on the downtown holiday lights and rescuing Santa from the roof of Weaver’s with a ladder truck. The event had a new organizer this year — Lawrence Central Rotary Club — after many years of being hosted by Downtown Lawrence Inc.
