Lawrence outdoor pool to open June 6; South Park wading pool to open June 1

The Outdoor Aquatic Center and the South Park Wading Pool will soon be open for the summer season, according to a news release Tuesday from Lawrence Parks and Recreation.
The Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., will open to the public on Monday, June 6, while the South Park Wading Pool will open Wednesday, June 1.
The Outdoor Aquatic Center’s hours will be as follows:
Registration hours – daily: 1-6 p.m.
Public swimming – Monday, June 6-Sunday, Aug. 14
Monday-Friday: 1-7:30 p.m. – recreational swim will be available with lap lanes (except 1-6 p.m. Monday, July 4)
Saturday and Sunday: 1-6 p.m. – recreational swim will be available with lap lanes
Swim teams are renting the pool from 6:30-9 a.m. Monday-Friday
The wading pool in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St., will be open Monday, June 1, through Saturday, July 30. The hours are:
Monday-Friday: 1-7 p.m., except for Monday, July 4, when the facility will be closed
Saturday: 1-6 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

The Indoor Aquatic Center will also switch to its summer hours on Monday, June 6. The summer hours will be followed through Saturday, July 23. The summer hours are:
Lap swimming
Monday-Friday: 6:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. lap swim/water fitness classes (except 1-6 p.m. Monday, July 4)
Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. lap swim
Sunday: Closed
Currently there are no leisure pool swimming hours available at the Indoor Aquatic Center during the summer hours; however, they may be added as staffing levels change. The Indoor Aquatic Center will also be closed Sunday, July 24 through Sunday, Aug. 14, for the annual maintenance shutdown.
Daily admission at the Indoor Aquatic Center and Outdoor Aquatic Center are:
$5 – youth 3 years old to 17 years old and senior adults 60 years and older
$6 – adults 18 years old to 59 years old
There is no charge for those 2 and under with an adult paid admission. Limit three children per paying adult.
Aquatic passes and punch cards are also available at the aquatic centers. Those who already hold annual or monthly passes are able to renew them online at: https://wt.lawrenceks.org/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/login.html. Initial passes need to be purchased in person at an aquatic facility.
