The Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health clinic at 200 Maine St. is closed until Monday after some of the clinic’s staff tested positive for the coronavirus Tuesday.

The health department announced the closure early Wednesday afternoon in a social media post. The post notes that all of the clinic’s staff are vaccinated and follow strict safety protocols, but they are still at risk of exposure to COVID-19 every day. The closure is to allow staff to recover and properly clean the space, according to the post.

While the clinic will be closed until early next week, the health department is still encouraging people who are exhibiting COVID symptoms or fear they have been exposed to contact the health department at 785-843-3060 to coordinate free testing. Additionally, the health department still plans to host a drive-thru booster clinic Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Lawrence Health Plaza, 330 Arkansas St.
