Members of the public are invited to help plant a monarch butterfly garden at Haskell Indian Nations University at the end of this month.
The planting event is set for Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. The work will start at Eric Allen Green House, 155 E. Indian Ave. An event flyer notes that families and groups are welcome and should bring their own shovels and gardening gloves.
The project is funded by a USDA Sustainability Grant and donations from the Monarch Watch Program at the University of Kansas.
