Weather outlook for Oct. 22 through Oct. 24.
Transition season is in full swing this week, according to the National Weather Service. Lawrence will likely see a mix of weather conditions in the following days, including heat, a wind advisory, potential thunderstorms and freezing temperatures.
The high Thursday will be 84 degrees, and Lawrence will be under a wind advisory from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph, with some gusts reaching up to 45 mph. Thursday evening there is a slight chance of thunderstorms and quarter-sized hail, according to meteorologist Bill Gargan, who also said to expect a cold front to move in Thursday evening.
On Saturday morning, Gargan said, Lawrence will likely see a widespread frost and temperatures drop to freezing, but the high later in the day is expected to be 50 degrees. Snow may fall late Sunday night into Monday morning, Gargan said. Whether or not Lawrence gets snow, it will be cold Monday with a low of 28 degrees and a high only in the mid-30s.
On Wednesday, Lawrence received .02 inches of rain, according to measurements taken at the Lawrence Municipal Airport. Lawrence is now 4.49 inches below normal rainfall for this time of year.
