National Weather Service in Topeka forecast as of Friday morning, May 15, 2020.

Though a severe thunderstorm watch and flash flood watch were issued Thursday night, Douglas County received minimal rain and the National Weather Service in Topeka did not receive any reports of damage in the county.

Only .15 inches of rain was reported at the Lawrence Municipal Airport, meteorologist Chelsea Picha said, and no hail was reported. Picha said the highest gust of wind she saw reported at Lawrence’s airport was 31 mph, and no tornadoes were reported in the county.

There is a chance for scattered thunderstorms and rain on Friday afternoon into Friday evening, Picha said, as well as throughout the day on Saturday. Picha said the weather service was not expecting Douglas County to experience the kind of severe weather on Friday or Saturday that was expected to occur Thursday night.

Sunday is expected to be dry and partly cloudy.
