Thunderstorms are expected Thursday afternoon through the weekend in Douglas County.

Douglas County is under a hazardous weather outlook because of the possibility of thunderstorms Thursday afternoon through Sunday.

Chad Omitt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Topeka, said Douglas County could expect 1 to 3 inches of rain throughout the weekend, as multiple systems move over the state. Hail and high winds are possible, although it is currently difficult to pinpoint where or when that may occur, Omitt said. After two weeks of hot, dry weather, flooding may also occur.

Don’t expect constant rain throughout the weekend, Omitt said. The stormy weather is most likely to arrive during afternoons and evenings.
