Lawrence-based Headquarters Inc. has a new executive director with more than 20 years of fundraising and nonprofit management experience, the crisis center and suicide prevention hotline announced Wednesday.

Steve Devore, who has lived in the Lawrence and Douglas County area for 13 years, has worked at the University of Kansas Endowment Association and the Kansas State University Foundation, according to a news release from Headquarters. He also served as chief development officer for the Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit that provides an emergency shelter to abuse survivors, and as president of the Gardner Area Chamber of Commerce.

“I am truly honored and humbled that I was selected as the new Executive Director for Headquarters, Inc.,” Devore said in the release. “I greatly appreciate that the Board of Directors has confidence in my abilities to accept the responsibility of leading this outstanding organization in such a crucial period in our society.”

The public is invited to meet Devore at Headquarters’ 50th Anniversary Open House, scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at the center, 211 E. Eighth St.

Effective Tuesday, Devore has taken the spot of Andy Brown, who resigned in December 2017 to accept a position with the state.
