Lawrence Farmers’ Market will now be in South Park on Tuesdays

Starting next week, the Tuesday version of the Lawrence Farmers’ Market will be in South Park instead of at the Vermont Street parking garage.
For the past three years, the Tuesday afternoon market has been in the lower level of the parking garage adjacent to the Lawrence Public Library. But Brian McInerney, marketing director with the farmers market, said he hoped the new location would help the market grow.
McInerney noted that the Tuesday market generally has fewer vendors than the version that’s held on Saturday mornings in the 800 block of New Hampshire Street.
“We see a growth potential because we will have more space,” McInerney said. “There is more opportunity to bring in more vendors.”
Moving to South Park would also make the market visible from Massachusetts Street, which could entice both pedestrians and drivers to stop by, McInerney said.
The weekday farmers markets will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday through Oct. 29 at the northwest corner of South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.
