Lawrence received another inch of rain through the night between Monday and Tuesday and could see more throughout the day.

Brandon Drake, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Topeka, said the Lawrence area received 1.06 inches of rain overnight. The Lawrence area received about 3.99 inches of rain over the weekend to Monday afternoon.

Drake said the area could see an additional inch to an inch and a half of rain Tuesday throughout the day. The rain could clear out Tuesday afternoon, but more rain could again return in the evening. As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Lawrence received 1.51 inches of rain.

“We’ll have lingering showers into the early morning (Wednesday), and then start to clear out with a relatively decent and cooler day,” he said. “Hopefully, Thursday will be completely dry.”

But the tropical moisture coming up from the south could cause another string of storms this weekend, Drake said.

“Hopefully, that will be the last of it for awhile,” he said.
