Several people gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 25, 2024 for the new Douglas County Treasurer Office location.

Starting Monday, the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office will offer services at a new location on Sixth Street, replacing the older satellite office on 31st Street, and the office held a ceremony on Friday to celebrate.

The Treasurer’s office will serve the public at two locations in Lawrence: the historic County Courthouse at 1100 Massachusetts St. and the new office at 2601 W. Sixth St. Both offices will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

The new Sixth Street office is 5,054 square feet and features a lobby with seating and a drop box. Funded by federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars and renovated with the Capital Improvement contingency fund, the project cost a total of $1.6 million.
