The city of Lawrence’s app now allows residents to make 11 new types of service requests, including pothole and pavement repairs and stormwater issues.

The city announced the expanded service requests offered by the web app, called SeeClickFix, in a news release Wednesday. The new service categories added are:

• Potholes and pavement

• Street sweeping

• Street debris cleanup

• Stormwater issues

• Sinkhole issues

• Curb and gutter

• Illicit discharge, such as materials spilling into drains that shouldn’t be there

• Sewer odor complaints

• New traffic sign requests

• Traffic pavement marking requests

• Water quality issues

Community members can access the app online at lawrenceks.org/request-services or by downloading the app to their phone from the Apple App Store or Google Play store.

The app was first launched in 2019 for residents to report common property and park maintenance issues in the city, including tree limbs that need trimming, potholes, missed trash collection and dead animals.

The service was paused in June 2023 so the city could address user feedback about how the app worked, and the city relaunched the service this February. The city said 1,511 requests have been submitted via the app, and the response time to close requests averaged about six days.

When the app went back online, it added a section where residents could report certain nonemergency crimes. Those crimes included theft of items or vehicles that aren’t inside a building, theft of items from inside a vehicle, criminal damage to property, credit card fraud and shoplifting. For crimes that can’t be reported through the app, residents are asked to call the police department’s nonemergency dispatch number at 785-843-0250, or, in an emergency, call 911.
