A man was found deceased near Clinton Lake early Saturday morning, and a woman discovered in the area was taken to a hospital, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s office spokesman George Diepenbrock said in an email to the Journal-World that early Saturday morning, the Lenexa Police Department requested assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in locating two people who were believed to be near Clinton Lake. Around 1:50 a.m., sheriff’s deputies found a vehicle on the north side of the spillway, Diepenbrock said, and a drone search revealed a heat signature on the bank of the creek.

Diepenbrock said the deputies eventually found a woman and a deceased man; the woman was taken to an area hospital, and sheriff’s office investigators and the county’s underwater search and recovery unit began processing the area.

Further details about the incident, including whether foul play was suspected in the man’s death, were not available on Saturday afternoon.

This is the second incident this month in which a body has been found near Clinton Lake. As the Journal-World previously reported, on Sept. 7, 50-year-old Philando White, of Overland Park, was found dead at a campsite at Clinton State Park.
