Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Kansas Highway 10 on Friday morning, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The patrol’s online crash logs said that just before 10 a.m. Friday, a Toyota Corolla driven by Gwendolyn Whitebread, 84, of Baldwin City, was on the shoulder of K-10’s westbound lane between the Sixth Street exit and the Kansas Turnpike interchange. The log said the Toyota attempted a U-turn but was struck by a westbound Ford Transit driven by 62-year-old Michael Gillitzer. The Ford swerved to try to avert the crash but was unable to do so, the log said.

Gillitzer and Whitebread were both taken to LMH Health with suspected serious injuries, the log said. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
