The Douglas County Commission has deferred its acceptance of a $450,000 Sunflower Foundation Health Care for Kansas Grant.
County Administrator Sarah Plinsky told the commission at its meeting Wednesday that some aspects of the grant agreement were still being finalized, and that the item would come back to the commission at a later date.
The grant will go to support the county’s integrated system of care for mental health crisis and other behavioral health issues over the next three years. The grant will help support a psychiatric resident rotation at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center; a registered nurse to serve on the county’s new multi-agency Assertive Community Treatment Team; as well as funding for ongoing research, publishing, technical assistance and data analysis by the Behavioral Health Leadership Coalition’s data sharing collaborative.
