The City of Lawrence’s transit service will operate free of charge for election day.

The city said in a news release that Lawrence Transit is offering free rides to customers on Tuesday, Aug. 2, to encourage all residents to get out and vote. All fixed-route and paratransit buses will be free all day.

Voters across the state will cast their ballots on whether to amend the state constitution to remove any constitutional right to an abortion in Kansas. Voters affiliated with a party will also vote in primary races for U.S. Senate, Kansas governor, other statewide offices, and local voters in the primary for the Douglas County Commission. Voters can verify their polling place on the Douglas County elections website, douglascountyks.org/depts/voting-and-elections/where-to-vote.
