Lawrence NAACP to host forums this week for City Commission and school board candidates

The Lawrence branch of the NAACP will host forums this week for City Commission and Lawrence school board candidates.

The forum for City Commission candidates will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday and the forum for Lawrence school board candidates will be at 6 p.m. Thursday. Candidates for both races will talk about their priorities and answer questions about their vision for Lawrence, according to the Facebook event announcements.

Both forums will be virtual and conducted via Zoom. Those who would like to attend the City Commission forum can register at bit.ly/NAACPCityComm21. Those who would like to attend the Lawrence school board forum can register at bit.ly/NAACPSchoolBoard21.

The general election will take place Nov. 2. The deadline to request an advance ballot to be mailed is Oct. 26, and advance voting by mail begins Oct. 13. More information is available on Douglas County Elections website, douglascountyks.org/depts/voting-and-elections.
