Newton ? Lawrence High junior wrestler Alan Clothier won the 182-pound championship match over Norton’s Gavin Lively to highlight the Newton Tournament of Champions for LHS.

Clothier won a 5-1 decision over Lively to improve to 23-0 in matches on the season.

Tristan Star (a 152-pounder) and heavyweight Kevin Nichols split their respective matches on the back side of the bracket.

Star won a 7-0 decision over Holton’s Trey Haverkamp before losing a 9-2 decision to Alex Hydock of Maize. Nichols won by fall over Gardner-Edgerton’s Edrick Rouse in 1:28 before getting pinned by Hayden Perry of Emporia in 4:25.
