Jayhawks bounce back in K.C.

? No. 2 Kansas University’s men’s basketball team rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Oregon State, 82-67, Saturday at Sprint Center behind 22 points from Wayne Selden Jr.

The Jayhawks (8-1) trailed 39-28 at the break, but used a 26-9 run over the first six minutes of the second half to turn back the Beavers.

Selden drained five three-pointers to lead all scorers. Frank Mason III, Perry Ellis and Devonté Graham joined Ellis in double figures with 18, 13, and 10 respectively.

Here’s a quick look back at some of the action:

• The game turned when: Kansas went on a 14-0 run over a stretch of two minutes and 38 seconds at the beginning of the second half to turn a 48-41 deficit to a 55-48 advantage. Graham began the run with back-to-back layups, and capped the surge with another point-blank basket.

• Offensive highlight: Ellis went on a personal 5-0 run to give a 53-48 advantage and force an Oregon State timeout in the middle of KU’s 14-0 spurt. Ellis hit a baseline jumper, and then drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key for five of his 13 points.

• Defensive highlight: Graham limited Oregon State leading scorer Gary Payton II to 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Payton entered the contest averaging 16.4 points per game.

• Key stat: The Beavers knocked down 7-of-10 three-pointers in the first half, but hit just 1-of-6 from behind the arch in the second.

• Up next: The Jayhawks will be back in Allen Fieldhouse next Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip-off against Montana.
