Letter: Campaign ‘facts’

To the editor:

During World War II, I often heard that the Nazi machine operated on the principle: Tell them the same story (lie?) enough times and they will believe it.

Political campaign 2014 is upon us. Stories, “facts,” charges, claims will be repeated endlessly (thanks to money and more money). Can we believe all of them?

Boy, do we need help to sort it out! Newspapers and media help us with information, but I doubt that personally I have or have access to the complete picture. I need help.

The bottom line probably will be to choose the kind of character a candidate is. Is the person honest (even if it hurts), realistic (not just pampering us) and committed to the good of all? Hidden agendas are tricky to expose. Partial truths or selective facts mislead and conceal. I hope the media perform well for us. Help us sort out the words, words, words.

In selecting the path ahead, we need to challenge ourselves to be bold enough to strive for or expect we will choose leaders who will give our city, county, state, nation and world hope for days ahead.
