Liberty Memorial Central Middle School Principal Anna Stubblefield has been named the Lawrence school district’s new division director of human resources.

The position had been held by Bob Arevalo, who is retiring after 29 years in the district.

Stubblefield has been principal at Liberty Memorial Central for four years. She had previously served as an assistant principal in the Blue Valley school district and was a teacher and coach for Center schools. Stubblefield earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Kansas University, an educational specialist’s degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and a doctorate from Saint Louis University.

Stubblefield will begin her new job July 1, and the district has begun a search for a new middle school principal.
