Rooks County sheriff resigns amid allegations he distributed meth
Stockton ? Rooks County Sheriff Randy Axelson has resigned.
Axelson has been on administrative leave since nine felony counts of methamphetamine distribution were filed against him in January.
The Hays Daily News reports Axelson turned in his resignation Thursday.
The 43-year-old Axelson remains free on $45,000 bond.
Axelson is accused of distributing meth from September through Dec. 21, at the Rooks County Fairgrounds and within 1,000 feet of Stockton High School.
Axelson’s next court hearing is scheduled for late July, when he is expected to be arraigned.
