Lions’ rally falls short

Lizzy Jeronimus scored 22 points, leading Shawnee Mission West to a 55-44 high school girls basketball victory over Lawrence High on Thursday night.

LHS (5-8) rallied to tie the game at 39 with six minutes left, but the 5-foot-11 Jeronimus was dominant after that point.

“She became the difference down the stretch, and they were getting the offensive rebounds,” LHS coach Nick Wood said. “We couldn’t stop it when we needed to.”

Haley Parker paced LHS with 19 points. Cassandra Potter and Jasmyn Turner added six points apiece.

LHS will play host to Shawnee Mission East on Tuesday.
