Crime simulation planned Wednesday afternoon in Ottawa

? Residents should not be alarmed if they see multiple law enforcement officers with their weapons drawn Wednesday afternoon.

In a training exercise, Ottawa Police and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies will respond to a simulation of a serious crime at a bank near 23rd and Princeton streets, a news release said. The exercise near the busy intersection just north of Interstate 35 will begin at 4 p.m.

Officers will be working near restaurants and businesses in the area and will be displaying unloaded weapons. Member of the public are asked not to speak to officers during the exercise.
